Hello Friends,

Today we have our wonderful guest designer Neha Bhatt from Periwinkle Creations joining us again to share her latest experiments with Ken Oliver's Color Bursts. She has a video demonstration too, showing how this concentrated pigments really "burst" into vibrant colours when they interact with water. For more, lets hand it over to Neha. Thank you, Neha!

I am Neha here. Today, I am going to talk about Ken Oliver Colour Burst - watercolour pigment powders. These are highly concentrated pigments in powder form and come in these bottles with nozzles . Spritz your project with water and sprinkle on Color Burst to create amazing designs. Sprinkle Color Burst on dry paper and then spritz with water for a completely different look. Dissolve in water and spray from a mister bottle to create your own custom mists... and more. Possibilities are endless. They are so concentrated that you just need a teeny tiny powder to create magic so one bottle goes long way.

For the first card, I took a 4.5 X 6.5 inch water colour paper . I wanted to create a background which mimic galaxy. I spritz the paper with water and added tiny puffs of pigments in random manor (pic -1).

Spray the pigments with water (pic -2). It will react with water and turns into this vibrant water colours. You can tilt the paper, add more pigments or use paper towel to soak up extra water. Allow it to dry in-between for layered look. You can keep on adding water and pigments till you are happy with it. I love how it turned out (pic -3) Here is the card....

For the glob I have embossed the background (Impression Obsession ) in white and added blue and green pigments diluted with water and applied with brush. Space shuttle, alien and sentiment is from MFT coloured with copics.

I filled in each petal with pigments diluted with water. For the flower in front, I used diluted

Alizarin Crimson and Yellow pigment powder. Drop little bit of diluted crimson in a petal and add a tiny bit of yellow powder( by tapping the bottom of bottle- I found, it gives more control over the quantity of pigments than squeezing the bottle which release huge puff of powder) besides it. Help them to blend with thin brush. It blends differently (as one is liquid and other solid powder) and create interesting pattern. I also added some green powder around flowers and stamped some leaves with distress inks while paper was wet. Added this Be-You-tiful die cut (die by Ellen Hutson) and few enamel dots to finish it off.

Here is a video to show how I coloured the flower.

The true beauty of this product lies in its unpredictable nature, the randomness it creates. Every time it is going to give different results and you never get bored of playing with it.

I hope you enjoyed this post, product and process.

Thanks for visiting us here!

Hugs!
