Beautiful & Elegant: Diwali Greetings

Hi everyone!

Sindhu here. I'm so glad to be guest designing for Ranganjali. You might already be knowing that Ranganjali released three beautiful, intricate Diwali dies for the upcoming festive season. Today, I'm going to share three cards using two of the three dies.

Here is the first card..

For this card, I just sponged the die cuts from Ornamental Diya and Happy Diwali Word dies with Distress Inks and assembled the card. It was very simple and easy and great for mass production too. I added some jewels on the Diya die cut for the festive look.

The next card is my favorite of the lot.

For this card, I inked up the die with Versafine Onyx black ink and carefully put it face down on the cardstock without moving it. Then I ran it through my die-cutting machine as I would if I were dry embossing using any die. (I saw this technique in of Jennifer McGuire's videos. Here is the link.

It is slightly different but the technique is the same. I coloured in the embossed image using copic markers. I took care to not touch the black ink impression as the black ink bleeds when copics touch it. I layered a piece of glitter paper and die cut the Diwali from the same glitter paper. I assembled the card and added some gems on the diya. Here are some close up pictures..

The embossed areas look really pretty in person.

The last card was an epic fail but I saved it. :)

For this card I started by following the exact steps of the second card. But I didn't want to spend so much time colouring in the spaces. So, I die cut out a mask, placed it on the dry embossed diya and just coloured using a brown copic marker. I did it very quickly to avoid seeping of the ink through the mask. But it did seep a bit. So, I just covered it with a white die cut. :)

I layered the panel on a patterned paper, added twine and adhered it on the card base.

Tip-

**If your die cutting machine is old like mine (mine is over six years old), I strongly recommend using a metal adapter plate on top of the sandwich to get a clean cut as these are intricate dies. If you don't have a metal adapter plate, you can use a thick piece of cardstock for extra pressure on the top of your sandwich and it will work the same way.

I hope you like the cards I made with these beautiful dies and will give these a try.

Thank you, Ranganjali, for this opportunity!

Giveaway: Ranganjali will be giving away all three dies as a bundle to one lucky winner. For that, leave a comment below this post and other Diwali die related post (one more is coming tomorrow). A winner will be announced on the blog on 15th Sep, 2018.

Hugs..

Sindhu.
